The infection rate is rising again in Andalusia
SPAIN RIKS The positive trend in Andalusia has not only slowed down, but in the last four days the region has registered a rising infection rate.
It is still a weak rise, at 6.5 points, but still a matter of an important and worrying trend break. The latest figure is an infection rate in the region of 173.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, calculated in the last two weeks. This is significantly higher than the national average, which continues to fall slowly and is currently 121.8 cases.
More worrying than the actual frequency of infection is that the number of admitted Covid patients is also increasing. They currently amount to 816, after an increase of 32 in the last 24 hours.
The negative turnaround could overturn the regional government's planned reduction of restrictions, which should be completed by mid-June. For the time being, the transition to the next phase has been postponed by at least a week.
